AVHALIFAX - Police say they are investigating after an attempted home invasion at a Halifax home, which investigators determined was not random.
Halifax police say officers found 26-year-old Anthony Robert Herritt stabbed near a home Friday, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
They say two men allegedly tried to invade a home when they were confronted by a resident.
They say an altercation between the three people resulted in the death of one of the men allegedly trying to enter the house, while another fled but later turned himself over to the police.
Police say they arrested two men at the scene, but both were released from custody.
They say criminal charges are not being considered at this time in relation to the death.
Police say a 28-year-old man is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court Jan. 3.
He is charged with break and enter to commit indictable offence of assault with a weapon, possession of weapon dangerous to the public peace, wearing a disguise and breach of probation.
