BEHCHOKǪ̀ - A shelter order in the Northwest Territories was lifted Friday evening after a shooting earlier in the day.
RCMP say several people have been arrested, and it's safe for residents in Behchoko to resume normal activities, though they said in an earlier update that they were still looking for at least one suspect.
No injuries were reported after shots were fired in the community of about 2,000 people northwest of Yellowknife.
Police had said they were looking for up to six people armed with long guns and riding around on two snowmobiles.
They say the attack appears to have been targeted.
Chief Jimmy Bruneau School and Elizabeth Mackenzie Elementary School were locked down, with students kept there past the school day until the all-clear was given.
The schools said the children were supervised, fed and kept entertained throughout the lockdown.
RCMP say an increased police presence will remain visible in the community as they continue their investigation.
