Oil falls below US$100 after ceasefire deal, futures market points to stock rally

TORONTO - Canadian and U.S. stock markets surged as oil prices plunged below US$95 per barrel after U.S. President Donald Trump pulled back from his threat to destroy Iran. 聽

The S&P 500 leaped 2.5 per cent after Trump announced a two-week ceasefire with Iran, less than 90 minutes before a deadline he had set for the country to open the Strait of Hormuz and allow oil tankers to exit the Persian Gulf. 聽
